Where will the tree be planted?
Trees will be planted in middle of the City’s “Right-of-Way”, also known as the “setback” or “easement.” Generally, this means the area within 6ft-10ft of the curb but varies block to block. If you don’t know where the boundary is on your property, the location of city infrastructure like sewers or fire hydrants can indicate where it most likely is.
Trees must also be planted with enough distance from driveways, utilities, fire hydrants, signs, and other trees, to allow them to grow in the future without conflict.
Timing of the planting is contingent on nursery stock availability. Homeowners who sign up will be contacted via the information they provide on the exact timing of the tree planting.
Early Tree Watering and Care
Young trees need water to grow healthy and strong. New trees require thorough and more frequent watering to help establish deep, healthy root systems. Proper watering of young trees can make them less invasive to surface hardscape and decrease water needs over time. As they mature, trees adapt to local water conditions. However, mature trees can sometimes need infrequent yet thorough watering.
Tree adopters will receive more information on early tree care throughout the program!
